Context

The Subscription Manager is the part of a merchant's site where customers see their subscriptions and upcoming orders, and skip, pause, cancel or change quantities. It runs on sites ranging from large retail brands to coffee and beauty companies.

The previous version looked dated and was hard to configure: one form in the merchant admin with around a hundred controls, and a single version that was always live.

The work

  • The team rebuilt it from scratch. Merchants configure nearly everything in the merchant admin: fonts and colors, which options customers see, and the settings behind them, such as the default pause length and skip durations.
  • v25 introduced drafts: merchants can keep several versions, choose which one is live, and duplicate a version to try a single new feature.
  • It rolled out behind a feature flag first; later every merchant moved to the new version.
  • I delivered features across the rewrite as part of the team.

How it fits together

  1. Duplicate the live version
  2. Edit the draftDisplay, options, settings
  3. PublishThe draft becomes live

Try it

Drafts and publishing Duplicate the live version, change a setting in the draft, then publish it. Recreated for this site with sample data. This is not Ordergroove's code or interface.
